Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's initial championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
